VHS is 4th in Science Bowl Rapid City Central High School won the 12th Annual South Dakota Science Bowl Saturday at Si Tanka/Huron University, earning the opportunity to compete at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl in Washington, DC, April 28-May 2.
Since the program began in 1991, the national event has brought together more than 60,000 high school mathematics and science students from across the country. The contest tests knowledge in astronomy, biology, chemistry, math, physics, earth, computer and general science. St. Thomas More High School placed second, Aberdeen Central High School placed third and Vermillion High School placed fourth. Twenty-three teams from 16 high schools competed.
Vermillion High School team members are Keshav Arogyaswamy, Harch Patel, Matthew Sand and Ryan Eichelberg. Their coach is Brenda Buschkamp.
