Gebhart, Wetering, Nielsen stand out at Panther Classic South Dakota sophomores Stephanie Gebhart and Tyler Wetering, and junior Aimee Nielsen had standout performances at the Panther Classic on the campus of Northern Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 5.
Gebhart of Elkton met national provisional marks in the 200 meters and 400 meter dashes as well as a member of the 4×400 meter relay squad. The 4×400 meter relay squad recorded a 3:48.21, which is the best time in NCAA Division II this season. The squad include sophomore Heidi Muellenberg, junior Kassy Laber, senior Amber Stoltenberg and Gebhart.
Gebhart won the 200-meter dash in 25.15 and finished second in the 400-meter dash in 56.25. Nielsen, a junior, won the 3,000-meter run in 10:19.87 and finished second in the mile run at 5:07.67, which is one of the best clockings in the NCC this season.
Tyler Wetering, a sophomore, won the 3,000-meter dash in 8:29.93, recording the best time in the NCC this season and the third best time ever at USD.
In addition, USD women's team performers Marci Miller was third in the pole vault while Kassy Laber was third in the 800 meter run in 2:14.85.
On the men's side, Dan Tolsma of Vermillion, finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 54'06.50. Sophomore Derek Gearman was third in the high jump at 6'06.75 and James Jeffery was third in the 800-meter dash in 1:53.41.
