Gymnasts finish second at Region meet By Jim Prosser The Tanager gymnastics team finished second in the Region 2A meet at Wagner last Saturday, Feb. 12.
The team scored 128.725 points to qualify for the state meet Feb. 18-19 in Rapid City at the Stevens High School.
The top three team scores are invited to attend the state meet, and the best 14 individuals in each event also qualify. Qualifiers for all-around at state are the top five in the region and anyone meeting the standard of 29 points.
Vermillion participants with their scores and place in each event are listed below.
Ariel Hofman � Bars, 8.45, third; beam, 9.4, first; floor 8.525, sixth; vault 8.975 second; all-around, 35.35, second.
Sarah Christopherson � Bars, 8.65, second; beam, 7.325, 13th; floor, 8.525, sixxth; vault, 8.8, third; all-around, 33.30, fourth.
Raychel Lorenz � Bars, 7.475, ninth; beam, 3.85; floor, 7.3, 14th; vault, 7.65; all-around, 26.275, 13th.
Tristen Upward � Bars, 5.55, 20th; beam, 8.55 (season best), fourth; floor, 7.0, 18th; vault, 7.525, 18th; all-around, 28.925, 11th.

Madison is the favorite to win another state meet, but five teams are poised to battle for the second place spot. Madison�s first place score in Region 2A was 138.825.
