Sioux City North clips Tanagers 60-58 By Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers fell short in a fourth-quarter comeback and lost a tough one to the Sioux City North Stars 60-58 in boys� basketball Feb. 21 at home.
Vermillion had trailed by 8 after three periods.
�We did not play sharp tonight,� said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. �Our third quarter really hurt us. They took us out of our offense. We just can�t allow that to happen. I was proud of our effort. We played hard down the stretch and had a good look to win. We will use this loss to get better.�
The Tanagers trailed 18-15 after the opening period, the game was knotted 30-30 at halftime, and the Tanagers trailed 45-37 after the third quarter.
Vermillion saw its record fall to 8-9, while Sioux City North upped its mark to 5-12.
Vermillion hit 9 of 20 three-point tries and connected on 11 of 21 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 19 of 50 field goal attempts, while Sioux City North was 20 of 44 from the field. Sioux City North connected on 4 of 12 three-pointers and made 16 of 33 free throw tries.
