South Dakota blows out North Dakota 74-47 On Senior Night, Feb. 19 at the DakotaDome, it was a senior, Josh Mueller that led three Coyotes in double figures with a game-high 18 points as the South Dakota men's basketball team (20-5, 6-4 NCC) held North Dakota (20-7, 6-4 NCC) to a season low 47 points in USD's, 74-47 victory, in front of 5,067.
Outside of Mueller's 18, a pair of junior's Turner Trofholz and David Nour added 15 and 14 points, respectively for USD.
North Dakota, who entered the contest in a tie for the league lead, got the first lead of the game, on a jumper by Todd Rypkema at 19:16 to put the visitors up 2-0. UND led the first 7:39 of the game, before senior Steve Anderson hit a lay-up at 12:21 to tie the game at 10.
For the game, USD shot 50.9 percent (29-of-57) from the field, including 52.6 percent (10-of-19) behind the three-point arc. At the line, the Coyotes, who outrebounded UND, 36-30, were 6-of-14 (42.9percent).
Anderson finished just shy of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Senior Luke Tibbetts finished with seven points, six rebounds and five assists.
North Dakota shot 37.3 percent (19-of-51) from the field and a dismal 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from three-point range. At the line, UND made 6-of-8 attempts for 75 percent. Rypkema was the only North Dakota player in double figures, finishing with 15 points. Evan Lindahl led all players with 11 rebounds.
