Tanagers' poor shooting contributes to 56-43 loss By Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were downed by the Sioux City North Stars 56-43 in boys� basketball Feb. 21 at home as the Tanagers shot just 30 percent from the field.

�Our overall effort and intensity was not at the level of games all year long,� said Vermillion JV coach Jon Reuvers. �We will re-group and be better.�

The loss was aided by the Tanagers committing 21 turnovers.

The Stars ended up hot from three-point range, canning 4 of 8 from long distance.

Vermillion jumped ahead 18-10 after the first quarter, but was outscored 14-4 in the second period and 12-6 in the third to trail 36-28 going into the final period.

The loss dropped Vermillion to a record of 12-4, while Sioux City North improved to 11-5.

The Vermillion JV sank 12 of 26 free throw attempts. The Tanagers hit 13 of 43 field goals, while Sioux City North was 21 of 38 from the field. The Stars sank 10 of 14 from the line.
