Top-five finishes highlight team’s performance

Top-five finishes highlight team's performance The South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving team recorded three top-five finishes at the Minnesota Challenge at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center on Friday in Minneapolis.

The South Dakota men's teams recorded a pair of second place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay.

In the 200 free relay, the USD A Team finished second in 1:24.79. The team included Dirk Craft, John Murman, Ryan Malone, and Tyler Scheer. The USD B team was fourth in 1:29.25. The team included Eric Thorsen, Tim Murman, David Lind, and Pat Elsener.

Three USD men's teams finished in the top four of the 400 medley relay competition. The USD A squad turned in a clocking of 3:39.65 and finished second. The USD A squad included John Murman, Craft, Garth Meacham, and Scheer. USD's B squad, which was third, finished in 3:42.25. The team included John Senger, Josh Fleming, Elsener and Tim Murman. USD's C Team was fourth in 3:44.80. The squad included Dylan Smith, Mike Damonte, Robert Hastings, and Malone.

The USD women's 400 medley relay was third in 4:03.68. The A squad included Megan Gordon, Leita Rolfe, Brae Olson, and Audrey Donley. USD's B squad was sixth in the race in 4:22.32. The squad included Theresa Eustice, Lacey Liebmann, Monica Mayer, and Angie Stalker.

The women's 200 free relay was sixth in 1:41.76. The A squad included Donley, Stalker, Gordon and Rolfe. USD's B squad was seventh in 1:44.82. The team included Louree Houston, Brianna Wass, Jessi Covert, and Eustice.

Other results included the men's 50 free in which Murman finished 12th in 21.26. Craft was 13th in 21.30. Other USD finishers in the 50 free included Malone, 25th, 22.20; Scheer, 26th, 22.29; Dylan Smith, 28th, 22.45; Elsener, 31st, 22.75; Tim Murman, 38th, 23.34.

Stalker was the USD women's top finisher with a 17th place in the 50 free with a clocking of 26.02. Other finishers in the 50 free included: Houston, 26.50; Covert, 30th, 27.35.
