Vermillion shows great effort in victory By Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers beat the Madison Bulldogs 57-47 in boys� basketball Feb. 5 at Madison. The Tanagers shot 50 percent from the field.

�We showed a great effort and intensity after the first quarter,� said Vermillion JV coach Jon Reuvers. �It took us a while to ?show up� but when we did it was one of our best games to date.�

The Tanagers committed only 7 turnovers while forcing 20.

The Tanagers fell behind 14-6 after the opening period, led 26-19 after the second period, and then led 43-38 after the third period.

Vermillion improved its record to 10-3, while Madison dropped to 5-8.

Vermillion connected on 5 of 7 three-point tries and connected on 10 of 12 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 21 of 42 field goals, while Madison was 19 of 48 from the field. Madison connected on 5 of 12 three-pointers and connected on 4 of 9 free throw tries.
