Organizations celebrate poets The Vermillion Literary Project and The University of South Dakota Women's Studies department invite you to join them for a special Women's History Month celebration on Thursday, March 31, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Coffee Shop Gallery, 24 W. Main Street, downtown Vermillion.
The program, titled "Passing the Flame: A Celebration of Women Poets," will feature women faculty members and graduate students from USD, each reading poems written by women poets they particularly admire or from whom they have drawn inspiration.
The readings will be followed by an open-mic segment in which everyone is welcome to participate and share five to 10 minutes of their own poetry, short fiction, or other creative works.
"Passing the Flame: A Celebration of Women Poets" and the open-mic segment are both free and open to the general public thanks to sponsorship by the Vermillion Literary Project and USD Women's Studies.
The Vermillion Literary Project is a student organization at The University of South Dakota that publishes a literary magazine and hosts literary events for the USD community and the general public.
