Rhythm in Red receives honors Rhythm in Red participated in the 5th annual Westwood Show Choir Jubilation competition in Sloan, IA on Saturday, March 5. Twenty-eight schools competed in the event from Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska. Rhythm in Red took first place in class 2A.
Rhythm in Red also competed at The University of South Dakota Coyote Jazz Festival on Tuesday, March 15. They took home first place in class 2A with a score of 288 out of 300. Second place in class 2A was Westwood Rebelaries, third place was Okoboji and fourth place with to South O'Brien. Erin Austin, Carrie Christensen, Lindsay Morecraft and Jacque Smidt received outstanding soloist awards.
Jazz, supper planned March 31
VHS Jazz Night will take place on Thursday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vermillion High School Auditorium. This is rescheduled because of the upcoming trip to nationals in Branson, MO, for VHS show choir Rhythm in Red.
Music Boosters, in collaboration with Hy-Vee will be putting on a spaghetti dinner that evening preceding the concert in the high school commons. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. The meal will cost $5 for adults and $3 for students. Please enjoy an evening of dinner and entertainment by supporting Rhythm in Red's upcoming trip to Nationals.
