Wakonda students will present musical April 22

Wakonda students will present musical April 22 By Amber Skjonsberg Every other year the Wakonda School performs a musical. Two years ago local audiences were entertained with the presentation of Cinderella and two years before that, the curtain rose on Bye Bye Birdie.

This year's musical, which will be performed April 22, is The Butler did it Singing.

This musical is based on the play The Butler Did It, directed by Tim Kelly. During the play, Miss Maple, played by Adrianne Logue, invites a group of detective writers over to her secluded house for a night of fun. The writers are played by Patrick Morrison and Katie Sokolowski, the winners of the best actor awards for their performance in Love and Anger. The other writers are Jeanie Stockland, Danielle Morris, Jessica Peterson, Erin Spurrell and Alex Nelson.

To make sure Miss Maple's guests are kept entertained, she and her very social secretary, played by Courtney Nelson, set up a fake story about a lunatic that has escaped. She sets up fake appearances for the lunatic and cuts off all contact to society. Thinking she is giving the writers something to write about she gets something unexpected, a dead body on her dining room floor.

With her house maid, played by Jeanne Renaudin, being an ex-convict and the rest of her house full of mysterious writers the killer ends up being someone that no one would ever expect.

Also in the play are Emily Ganschow, Brian Donahue, Brittany Rederick, Alan and Adam Alsdorf, and Sandra Geuther who play servants of Miss Maple.

The musical will be held on Friday afternoon, April 22, for Wakonda elementary students. It will be performed that evening as a part of a dinner theatre for the general public.
