Book Buddy Night is April 25 By Ashley Anderson Kids of all ages are invited to the second annual meeting of Wakondas Book Buddy Night 7 p.m. Monday, April 25.
The event will be held at the Wakonda Fire Department. The firemen and First Responders are opening the building for students and their siblings that arent in school, to come and read.
Now that the school year is almost over and summer is about to begin, students drift away from their school work to enjoy the outdoors. So this meeting is for the parents to get some ideas to help their child review more throughout the summer.
Casey Pollman, Title I teacher, and Kristine Gillette, third grade teacher, have organized the second annual book buddy night in a row. This time they plan to show the parents how they can help their childs study skills by playing games on the internet, other software programs, and board and card games that are available to families at home.
It also gives a chance for families to spend more time together.
Last year the athletes of Wakonda High School came in and read to the kids but this time since it is being held at the fire department the firefighters and first responders are going to read. While the kids are reading, the parents are going to be learning new ideas to help their child. Afterwards, there will be juice and cookies and a book for every child, even if they are not in school. Hopefully this will be a great opportunity for parents to get involved with their childs education.
