Carlson, Geis earn academic honors Annie Carlson and Jacob Geis received the February Student of the Month award at Vermillion High School recently. Their academic standing and leadership are being recognized with a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust in Vermillion.
One of Carlson's recommendations noted that "her leadership and responsibility shine, but what I think I most appreciate is her positive attitude and inclusive nature to other students." Her future academic plans are to attend Central Missouri State University to pursue a degree in nursing.
Carlson's list of activities includes track, S.A.D.D., mentor, German Club, Student Council, and volleyball. Her awards have been the Principal Leadership Award, Track MVP, 4-H Citizenship Award and Big Eight Volleyball All-Conference. Her parents are Mike and Kathy Carlson.
Geis, too, has had an active high school career. He has participated in football, show choir, band, National Honor Society, and the spring musical. He attended Boy's State in Aberdeen and was a Boy's Nation alternate delegate.
Geis intends to enroll at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to major in animal science. His career goal is to become a veterinarian. Ron and Cindy Geis are his parents.
