Club brochure to be printed The 2005 Wakonda Community Club brochure is scheduled to be printed shortly.
Included in the brochure is a membership list. We are currently near a quite normal figure of about 150 individuals and businesses who by their membership support and understand the value of the organization. The club supports a wide variety of activities and projects that help support our community and school. The club is also the recipient of considerable correspondence relative to events and activities near and within our community. (A typical illustration: The bike-a-thon; "Tour de Kota," blood bank drive) and information from State tourism, private organizations and correspondence that would otherwise go to a chamber of commerce, if there was one.
The club also offers many other things that are for the good of the community such as spring clean up (coming shortly), financial suport for beautifying the town, rummage sales, athletic support (tail gate), and many others like Santa's Shack, Santa/Appreciation Day and more.
The club also serves as an information center. Each month, reports on various subjects relative to the school, the sheriff's department, Heritage Manor etc., are received. Just this past meeting the new social services coordinator at Heritage Manor was introduced. She is Laura Menniga and has only recently assumed that position.
If you have not yet paid your dues for this year there still may be time. Check with Charmaine at the First Premier Bank, as she is finalizing the list. We do appreciate the great community support and efforts that are made on behalf of the town and school
A reminder that our next meeting is Wednesday, May 4, and the Siouxland Blood Bank will be at the Senior Citizens Center drawing blood from 2 until 6 p.m. on that day.
