January students of month named Kyle Mollet and Lindsey Davies were named as the Vermillion High School January Students of the Month. These two seniors are being recognized for high scholastic achievement and leadership in their activities. Each will receive a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust in Vermillion.
Mollet "comes to the resource room one period each day and tutors one of our students with special needs," according to his faculty endorsement. "Kyle exhibits patience and a caring attitude when working with this student, and the student is always happy to see Kyle."
His resum� includes the National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, football, basketball, baseball, German Club, and the Governor's Leadership Excellence Award. Mollet plans to attend either The University of South Dakota or Minnesota State at Mankato while pursuing a degree in athletic training or carpentry. His parents are Mark and Patti Mollet, and Steve and Sheila Lambert.
Davies' recomendation reflected that she "has stood out as one of my 'stars' since I've had her in my freshman English class. She's a dedicated student who works hard and goes the extra mile to get things done."
Her extensive list of activities and honors include band, volleyball, drama club, newspaper editor, German Club, yearbook editor, Girls' State and National Honor Society. Davies' college plans are to attend either the University of South Dakota or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to major in English or journalism. Her parents are Tom and Karen Davies.
