Peterson's art on display The paintings of Paul Peterson, an artist originally from Wakonda, will hang as part of the South Dakota Artist Series at the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings on the campus of SDSU.
Growing up on a farm in southeastern South Dakota has given Peterson an intimate understanding of rural life and a unique perspective as an artist. Viewers of this body of work will not only perceive a sense of place but will also experience the complicated and sometimes contradictory feelings many rural residents experience.
The paintings are colorful, emotionally autobiographical and reflect the artist's feeling of connection to the land.
The show will run until July 3. A reception was held on April 8.
