SD/IA/NE tax workshops offered Two workshops being held in Sioux Falls next month will offer helpful state tax information to area business owners who conduct business in South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska.
The South Dakota Department of Revenue and Regulation, the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance, and the Nebraska Department of Revenue are hosting the Border Issues Workshops which are scheduled for April 13-14, at the South Dakota Technology Business Center, 2329 N. Career Avenue in Sioux Falls.
A sales and use tax workshop is set for Wednesday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. A contractors' tax workshop is scheduled for Thursday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Topics to be covered at the workshops include how and when to apply for a sales tax license; when to apply South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska tax; exemptions from sales and use taxes; nontaxable uses of tangible goods; agricultural products and production; exempt entities; local taxes; use tax; purchases for resale; filing returns by paper and electronically; an update on the Streamlined Sales Tax Project; and state income taxes.
