South Dakota tennis team defeats Southwest Minnesota State, 5-4 The young and improving South Dakota tennis squad (2-9) ended a six-match losing streak with a 5-4 road win over Southwest Minnesota State April 3 in Marshall, MN.
South Dakota won three of six singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches to earn its second win this season. The doubles teams of Maya Ristic of Vermillion, and Rachel Kludt of Huron, as well as Catherine Stoos and Brittany Johnson were victorious against Southwest Minnesota State.
The Ristic and Kludt team won its second straight doubles match (8-5) and is 2-0 as a pair this season. Ristic, Stoos and Johnson won singles matches.
Ristic improved to 7-3 at No. 1 singles while Stoos (3-8) won her third singles match of the season and her first at No. 3 singles. Johnson is 1-1 at the No. 4 singles and 4-6 overall this season.
Stoos and Johnson moved to 1-1 as a doubles tandem at No. 2 doubles.
