Tanager golfers look forward to 2005 By Jim Prosser The VHS Tanagers girls golf team is slated to face the class AA Brookings Bobcats at The Bluffs on Friday, April 1.
This is a chance to preview the 2005 season for Coach Kirk Hogens team. Returning are seniors Jackie Thomas and Sarah Christopherson, junior Paige Prosser, and sophomores Anna Isaacson and Chelsea Gauer who were letter winners last year. They are joined by some new faces and several JV members. They include Ariel Hoffman (sophomore), Liz Day (freshman), Kelsey Osborne (eighth grade), Laura Hansen (seventh grade) and Kristen Schwasinger (seventh grade).
Since neither team (Brookings or VHS) has had much of an opportunity to get on the links, were just happy to have the chance to see how we stack up to the opposition, Hogen said. Jackie will be
our leader with State Tournament experience. Sarah will again be a valuable member, and Paige should help the varsity. Anna and Chelsea are a couple sophomore gals who we will count on for the season. We are relatively young but the team will hopefully surprise some opponents.
The 2005 schedule includes two invitationals, two triangulars, the conference tourney, and six duals After the opener on Friday, the team travels to Brandon for a triangular involving the Lynx and the Yankton Gazelles.
There have been some changes in the schedule since it was printed in last weeks Plain Talk. Conditions may alter some dates or cause cancellations.
