USD tennis team wins fourth match of season The South Dakota tennis squad (4-14) ended a three-match losing streak with an 8-1 nonconference win over Morningside on Monday afternoon at the Four Seasons Tennis Club in Sioux City, IA.
South Dakota won five of six singles matches and won all three doubles matches to earn its fourth win this season. With the victory, USD improved its win total over a year ago when the Coyotes won three matches.
The doubles teams of Maya Ristic of Vermillion, and Rachel Kludt of Huron, Catherine Stoos of Jefferson, and Brittany Johnson of Rapid City, and Betsy Kasuske of Milbank, and Brittany Neilles of Sioux Falls, all were victorious in doubles competition. Ristic/ Kludt won, 8-0, while Stoos/Johnson picked up an 8-1 win and Kasuske/Neilles was victorious, 8-6. It is the first time this season that South Dakota won all three doubles matches in a single match.
In singles competition, Ristic picked up her 11th win of the season and her second consecutive straight set 6-0, 6-0 win. Meanwhile USD also received singles wins from Kludt (6-2, 7-5), Stoos (6-1, 6-0), Johnson (6-2, 6-2) and Kasuske (6-2, 7-6, 7-2 tiebreaker).
