VHS Tanager baseball team loses at Lennox By Jim Prosser The VHS Tanager varsity baseball team suffered its second straight loss when they faced the Lennox Orioles on Sunday, April 3 in Lennox.
The weather was not a factor in the 4-0 defeat. Starting pitcher Jason Donald was the victim of his team�s inability to mount any semblance of an offense. His contribution was a complete game � four-run, on five-hit effort including four walks and eight strike outs.
Lennox�s Justin Hanisch kept the Tanagers scoreless giving up only two hits, with five walks and eight Ks.
Line scores: Vermillion � 0 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 6 lob; Lennox � 4 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors, 6 lob.
Tanager hits were singles by Brad Schaack and Zach Weiss.
Team record is 1-2.
The JV team beat the Oriole JV 8-4. Sam Laprath pitched a complete game for the win, giving up four runs on five hits, issuing five BB and eight Ks. The main contributors to the scoring were: Jackson Freidel � 2 for 2, 1 run, 1 rbi; Jeff Donnelly � 1 for 2, 1 run; Bobby Dykstra � 1 for 3, 1 run, 2 rbi; Paul Hammond � 1 for 3, 1 run, 1 rbi; Tyler Thedorff � walk, 1 run; Eric McPherson � HBP, 1 run; Kyle Brunick � HBP, 1 run.
