Wakonda track team has a running start this season By Amber Skjonsberg The Wakonda Track team started the season on Thursday, March 31 in Centerville for the Lounsbery Early Bird meet.
Rob Gregoire won the boys' 1600M run in 4:59, while Eric Skonhovd placed second in 5:05. Nick Wuebben also ran the 1600 but did not place.
Casey Hessman placed fourth in the girls' 1600M run with a time of 6:26.34. Kelli Johnston and Jennifer Divine also ran the 1600 but did not place.
Tyler Knudson placed second in the boys' 110M hurdle in 17.71. He also placed fourth in the boys 300M hurdle with a time of 50.71.
Placing fourth in the girls' 3200M relay, Johnston, Divine, Tasha Goeden, and Kati Sokolowski had a combined time of 13:01.75.
Skonhovd, Gregoire, Jordan Meyer, and Nick Peterson had a combined time of 9:26 to place fourth in the boys' 3200M Relay.
Goeden received fifth place during the girls' 100M dash with a time of 14.66. Luke Lebert and Adam Alsdorf ran the boys' 100M dash but were unable to place.
Running the boys' 800M relay was Lebert, Donahue, Adam Alsdorf, and senior Allen Alsdorf. They had a total time of 1:58.92.
With a time of 53.56, Meyer, Donahue, Knudson, and Allen Alsdorf were unable to place in the boys' 400M relay.
Andy Jensen ran the boys' 400M dash in 1:16.43. Goeden ran the girls' 400M dash only a few seconds off of Jenson's time.
Running 4:36.88 in the boys' medley relay, Knudson, Donahue, Meyer, and Peterson ran short of placing.
Hessman placed third in the girls' 800M run with a time of 2:58.37. Jensen was unable to place for the boys' 800M run with a time of 3:15.36.
Goeden ran for the girls' 200M dash while Donahue and Lebert ran for the boys'.
Sokolowski placed second in the girls' 3200M run with a time of 13:31.4.
Junior Rob Gregoire placed first in the boys' 3200 with a time of 10:50.23. Eric Skonhovd followed closely with a time of 11:13 winning second place. Chris Nelsen also ran the 3200 but was unable to place.
In the girls' high jump Sokolowski placed first with a height of 4'10. Kelli Johnston also participated in the girls' high jump.
Participating in the boys' discus was Allen Alsdorf, with a distance of 96'7; Adam Alsdorf, who had a distance of 88'5; and Arron Ness, with a distance of 89'7.
They also participated in boys' shot put. Allen Alsdorf had a distance of 29'9.5, Adam Alsdorf had a distance of 29', and Ness led his team with a distance of 31'9.5.
Senior Nick Peterson jumped 13'3.5 in the boys' long jump. Jordan Meyer followed with a distance of 15'6 1/2 and Luck Lebert had a distance of 13'3.5.
Senior Eric Skonhovd and junior Rob Gregoire participated in the Dan Lennon meet at the DakotaDome on March 28. Gregoire placed first in the 3200M run and second in the 1600M run. Skonhovd placed seventh in the 3200 and eighth the 1600.
The next track meet was on April 5 at Elk Point but the results are not in at press time.
