Auditions scheduled for Guys and Dolls

Auditions scheduled for Guys and Dolls The Vermillion Community Theatre announces auditions for the summer production of the Broadway musical Guys and Dolls.

Auditions are open to ages middle school through adult and will be held at the Colton Music Hall of the USD Fine Arts Center at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 9, Tuesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 12.

Actors will be asked to sing a new song, learn a new dance and read from the script. Actors should also bring their calendars in order to complete a conflict sheet.

Based on Damon Runyon's short story The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown, Guys and Dolls revolves around Nathan Detroit, the organizer of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York, who bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson that he can't make the next girl he sees fall in love with him. The next girl he sees happens to be Miss Sarah Brown, a pure-at-heart Salvation Army-type reformer, and the stage is set for a hilarious evening of complications.

Jill Tyler and Anthony Burbach will direct the VCT production of Guys and Dolls. Performances are scheduled for July 8-11 at the Vermillion High School Theatre. There will be a fund-raising dinner on Thursday, June 9.

Announcements for these events will be forthcoming. Updated information is available at the VCT We site, www.vermillioncommunitytheatre.org.
