Baseball team ends regular season with win at Dakota Valley By Jim Prosser The Tanager baseball team had a season-ending win as they defeated Dakota Valley 11-1 on Tuesday, May 3, at the Panther field in North Sioux City.

In the varsity contest, Jason Donald pitched a real gem as he gave up one run on three hits and one walk, while registering eight Ks to give him a three wins, two losses pitching record for the season. He was backed up by an 11-hit offense and one error by his teammates.

Line score: Vermillion � 11 runs, 11 hits, 1 error, 5 lob; DV � 1 run, 3 hits, 1 error, 4 lob.

Leaders on offense were: Ben Oberle scored 3 runs on 2 for 3 at bats, with 1 rbi; Reid Meierkort � 2 for 4, 1 run, 1 rbi; Brad Schaack � 1 for 3 batting, 1 rbi, and 3 runs scored; Ryan Mockler went 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 rbi; Jeff Donnelly � 2 for 2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Jordan Anderson had 2 RBIs in 2 for 2 at bats; and Kyle Mollet had a sac fly and 2 RBIs.

Season final record: 9-5, with the playoff schedule to be determined.

The JV players ended their season with a 7-4 record as they clobbered the Panthers 13-7. Ryan Husby was the winning pitcher and Tyler Thedorff relieved for a couple innings. Together, they gave up seven runs, five hits, 11 BBs, and three Ks.

Husby also went 1 for 2 batting, scoring a run. The awesome offense was led by Ryan Gilbertson who went 3 for 4, scoring twice, with 1 rbi; Eric McPherson � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 rbi; Bobby Dykstra � 1 for 2, 1 run, 1 rbi; Paul Hammond � 1 for 2, 2 runs; CJ Haakinson � 2 for 2, 1 run, 2 RBIs; Jackson Freidel � 1 for 2, 1 run, 1 rbi; Taylor Thedorff � 1 for 2, 2 runs; Mikal Ustad � 1 for 1, 1 run.
