Benefit will assist Polley family

Benefit will assist Polley family Wakonda, Irene, Centerville and surrounding communities are teaming up to host a benefit for Cheryl Polley of Wakonda. The benefit will be held on June 11 at the Wakonda Legion Hall, in Wakonda.

Cheryl is the wife of Rodney Polley and the mother of three children, Adam, Justin and Roxanne, who all attend Wakonda School. Cheryl has been diagnosed with cancer and has been unable to work for the past month.

Cheryl and Rodney are planning a trip to Chicago on May 31 in pursuit of a treatment that will help slow down the progression of the cancer.

Cheryl is the daughter of Robert and Janice Olson from Irene. Cheryl graduated from Irene High School in 1987. Rodney is the son of Russell Polley and the late Reta Polley of Wakonda. Rodney graduated from Wakonda High School in 1976. Rodney and Cheryl were married in 1988 and have lived in Wakonda and the Wakonda area their entire married life. Cheryl works for Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg and Rodney works for the Clay County Highway Department.

Family and friends are sponsoring a supper, auction and dance benefit. The supper will begin at 4 p.m. , with a free will donation at the door. An auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the dance to follow. All proceeds will go to Cheryl and her family for expenses incurred from missed work and her cancer treatment/medical bills.

The Wakonda and surrounding communities have been wonderful in helping others in need. Please help us help Cheryl and her family. Please plan to attend the benefit event on Saturday, June 11 at the Wakonda Legion Hall.
