Berglin receives State Diana Award

Berglin receives State Diana Award Mary Berglin, Vermillion, received the State ESA Diana Award at the Epsilon Sigma Alpha State Convention in Mitchell April 30.

Berglin was sponsored by the Trinity Lutheran Church, several friends and ESA chapters, Vermillion.

Berglin is dedicated to her church where she has served as a member of the Board of Worship and Arts, attends Wednesday Bible study, has taught Sunday school, summer Bible school and several other functions in the church.

She is currently serving her community as the director of the Vermillion Food Pantry and has done so for the past 11 years.

Her former occupation was an English teacher and the library book route outreach person for the Vermillion Public Library.

Berglin has three grown children, Scott, Amber Sterns and Carrie Klein, and five grandchildren. Her husband, Dwight, is a certified public accountant in Elk Point and Alcester.

As one of her friends said, "Mary's Christian caring, compassion, assertiveness and humor contribute to make her a true friend."

Berglin's name has been entered in international competition. The International Diana will be honored at the international convention in Phoenix, AZ, in July.
