The Vermillion Public Library Book Club will be held on Thursday, May 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the activity room of the library. The Butches of Madison County, the 1996 winner of the Lambda Award for Best Humor, is written by author Ellen Orleans and will be the discussion book for the May meeting. This book, a witty parody of a classic romance, is about the relationship stages of a wandering lesbian writer and a straight Iowa farmwife.

Sign up for VPL Summer Story Time. Preschool Story Time is open to all children ages 3 to 5 years old. The Toddler Story Time is open to all children ages 1 to 3 years old. Registration is required and space is limited. For more information, please call the library at 677-7060.

"Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds" is the theme of this year's Summer Reading Program. The program begins at noon on Monday, June 6 and runs through noon, Friday Aug. 5. There is no fee and all programs are open to the public. Registration is required, with packets and details given out at the Kick-Off Party scheduled for noon on June 6.
