Chestnut Street closed for summer The City of Vermillion's Engineering Department announces that Chestnut Street will be closed to all through traffic between Dakota Street and University Street from May 6 to Sept. 9.
Detour signs will be posted.
This closure is necessary to facilitate the final phase of the Chestnut Street reconstruction project. The final phase consists of placing the curb and gutter, pavement, guardrail along the south side, pavement markings and restoration.
Motorists are advised to be alert to this closure and seek alternate routes.
