Students participate in music contest May 7 The following Wakonda students participated in the 5th and 6th grade instrumental solo contest held in Canton on Saturday, May 7.
Receiving a I rating for their solos were fifth-graders Melissa Hessman and Pearl Gaidelis on clarinet, Alex Nelson and Sam Smith on flute, and Lauren Mews on trombone.
Sixth-graders recieving a I rating were Ivan Barnett on alto sax, and Mandy Steffen on flute. Recieving a II rating were fifth-graders Cody Wagner and Phil Hessman on trumpet and sixth-graders Roxanne Polley and Jordan Nelson on trumpet, Greg Peterson on tenor sax and Dylan Halvorson on tuba.
The students are under the direction of Mrs. Morren.
