The VHS season ended with a tragic 6-4 loss in a tight, exciting game played in prime conditions of weather and field.
Brad Schaack started and went 5 2/3 innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on four hits plus seven walks and six Ks. He was relieved by Kyle Mollet who went the rest of the way allowing no hits or runs with three BBs and three Ks.
The Tigers took advantage of two walks and a hit to score their first run in the third inning. By the end of the fourth, the score stood at 1-0, and the roof fell in as a walk and an error fired up the visitors. They capitalized by the temporary letdown with three straight singles along with two more walks to take a commanding 6-0 lead midway through the fifth.
Mollet came in and put out the fire but the damage was done. The Tanagers responded with a three-run flurry in the bottom half of the inning but could only muster one more run before the innings ran out.
Line scores: Vermillion � 4 runs, 8 hits, 1 error, 7 lob; Harrisburg � 6 runs, 4 hits, 4 errors, 8 lob.

The varsity season record ended at 9-9.
