The Bluffs Bulletin Board Senior golfers battle wind
A warm, humid, windy Tuesday, May 17 greeted the 40 seniors who tried to battle the wind. Therefore, the scores were not real good. Coming in with a fine 35 was the team of Mo Marcotte, Ted Van Bruggen and Louis Fostvedt. They had two of the three birdies. Next came a tie at 38. First was Pete Berglund, Bill Wilson, Dick Gregory and Bob Lund; and Bob Boone, Dave Zimmer and Howard Connors. The two teams at 40 included Ross King, Lloyd Helseth and Gene Iverson; plus Vern Holter, Cleland Cook, Tim O'Connor and Van Pierce. A prize winner at 41 was Dave Bak, Cal Petersen and Ron Steckelberg. One of the scores of 42 was a prize winner. The foursome included Shorty Hanson, Jim Grabowski, Jack Stewart and Pat Boyle. Shot of the day honors go to Vern Holter for a 28-foot par putt on hole #4. Please note that next week we play on Monday instead of the regular Tuesday. Be here early for the 1 p.m. start. Wednesday Ladies Golf
It was a rainy day so no golf today. There were 22 present for lunch. Thank you, Cherry Street Grille for the delicious lunch. We did have bridge and dominoes. We had a guest: Eleanor Munger.
Desserts: Lynn Hatley, Pat Pratt and Karine Amundson.
Topics voted on:
Dues were discussed and it was voted to continue the $10 fee but each activity (golf, bridge and dominoes) will have their own prizes. Each person who participates will put in a quarter for that group's prizes.
Desserts: We shall continue desserts (please call or come to sign up). We will have two per week as we seem to be getting too many desserts left over. This was passed by majority vote.
Get well cards: We will send a get well card to only members of the association. Please let Pat Steckelberg, Jeanne Van Balen or Jayne Merrigan know.
Bridge: There was only one table. High: Eleanor Munger.
Dominoes: There were two groups. Winners were Vanetta Youngworthy and Babe Hurowitz.
