City continues storm clean-up The Vermillion Street Department continues to clear debris from streets and remove tree hazards on the public right-of-way following the June 20 storms.
After the traffic hazards are removed, the street department will pick up tree limbs and branches that residents have brought to the curb.
The City of Vermillion Street Department will start their final pass through the community to remove tree debris placed along the curbs on June 27.
If possible, limbs and branches should be cut to a length of 6 to 8 feet. Any commercial tree-trimming contractors must haul their debris off-site. Residents may call the street department at 677-7078 to report a location where branches need to be picked up.
City residents are reminded that debris should be placed in the right of way in the front of their property, not in the street. It also should be kept away from utility poles and low-hanging branches.
Residents may haul their storm-related branches and limbs to the Vermillion Landfill at 31426 Bluff Road. Tied down bundles will be accepted free of charge until June 27.
Residents are asked to be understanding during these unusual circumstances as crews work diligently to collect the remaining debris.
