Ice dominates EPJ, 13-5, 10-2

Ice dominates EPJ, 13-5, 10-2 by Jim Prosser The U-16 Vermillion Ice softball team dominated EPJ U-18 in a double header on Thursday, June 9 at the USD softball complex, with two victories.

Game #1 was a high scoring contest with the Stingers out pointing EPJ 13-5. Ariel Hofman was the winning pitcher giving up five runs on four hits. Her teammates scored early and often, building an 8-2 advantage after three innings, then coasted home for the win.

Six players scored two runs, Annie Roche � 1 for 2, 2 R; Hofman � 2 for 3, 2 R, 1 RBI; Alicia Brown � 2 for 2, 2 R, 2 RBI; Brittni Stewart � 2 for 2, 1 R, 2 RBI; Mary Ann Bierle � 1 for 1, 2 R; Stacy Bottolfson � 2 R; and Kaili Johnson � 1 for 1, 2 R.

In game two, Alicia Brown pitched a four-hit, two-run complete game which also included three BBs and four Ks. The Ice prevailed as they came up with 10 runs on 11 hits plus two BBs.

Vermillion scoring stats were: Margaret Mueller � 3 runs (on base with walks 3 times); Annie Roach 1 run on 3 for 3 hits, 2 RBI; Hofman � 2 for 3, 1 R; Kinsey Weydert � 1 for 1, 1 R; Krista Froke � 1 for 3, 1 R; Bierle, Bottolfson, and Johnson � 1 run each.

The season record is a perfect 8-0.
