Ice win doubleheader

Ice win doubleheader By Jim Prosser The U�16 Vermillion Ice softball team entertained the Canton Heat in a double header last Tuesday, June 7 at the Armory softball complex. They enjoyed 14-7 and 10-0 victories.

The first game was a high scoring contest with the Stingers outpointing the Heat 14-7. Ariel Hofman was the winning pitcher giving up seven runs on five hits. Her teammates committed four errors but made up for them with their batting prowess, tallying 13 hits.

Four players scored two runs each and six plated one run each. Annie Roche � 3 for 3, 1 R; Hofman � 1 for 2, 1 R; Alicia Brown � 1 for 1, 1 R; Brittni Stewart � 1 for 2, 1 R; Katie Kashas � 2 for 3, 1 R; Kinsey Weydert � 1 for 2, 2 R; Krista Froke � 2 for 3, 2 R; Mary Ann Bierle � 3 for 3, 2 R; Stacy Bottolfson � 1 for 1, 2 R; and Kaili Johnson � 1 for 3, 1 R.

In game two, Alicia Brown pitched a three hit, no run shutout complete game which also included three walks and 5 Ks. The Ice prevailed as they came up with 10 runs on 11 hits plus 2 BBs.

Vermillion scoring stats were: Annie Roche � 2 runs on 3 hits; Brown � 2 for 3, 2 R; Brittni Stewart � 2 for 3, 2 R; Katie Kashas � 1 run on 1 for 3 hitting; Krista Froke � 1 for 3, 2 Rs; Stacy Bottolfson � 1 for 3, 1 R.
