Jones' Food Center to host community blood drive Community Blood Bank's bloodmobile will hold a blood drive at Jones' Food Center on Wednesday, June 15 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Residents will have an opportunity to donate blood, save lives and help maintain an adequate blood supply for the community.
Individuals who donate can save up to three lives with just one donation. There are three parts to blood: platelets, plasma and red blood cells. These components save trauma, surgery, burn and cancer patients. You can make the difference in a local patient's life by donating with Community Blood Bank.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 lbs. or more and be in good general health. The donation process only takes 25 to 30 minutes on the bloodmobile.
Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood and blood products for Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital as well as other South Dakota hospitals including Viborg, Parker, Avera McKennan, Sioux Valley, South Dakota Heart Hospital, and V.A. Medical Center.
