Legion Post #1 scores another DH victory

Legion Post #1 scores another DH victory By Jim Prosser On Tuesday, June 7, the Post #1 team went to Lennox for a doubleheader.

It may be redundant, but the results were another two-game sweep for the visiting Vermillion contingent, this time the scores were 9-3 and 12-7.

In game one, Jason Donald pitched a complete seven-inning stint, allowing three runs on two hits and registering seven Ks. He also gave up five walks and his team was charged with five errors, four in one inning. Otherwise Vermillion dominated the contest when they plated four runs in each of the final two innings.

Scoring for Post #1: Ben Oberle 1 run on 1 for 3 bating; Reid Meierkort 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 RBI; BJ Campbell 2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Eric Chase 1 for 4, 1 run, 1 RBI; Chris Chase 2 for 4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs; Zach Wiess 3 for 4, 2 RBIs.

Game two was also a seven-inning contest which Vermillions Kyle Mollet won in spite of a seven-run, seven-hit, seven-passes (five BBs, two hit batters) showing. His mates again committed three errors. I thought it might be more interesting if they had put up seven E, to match the rest of statistics.

Vermillions offense was dominant: Oberle 1 for 3, 1 run; Mollet 2 for 4, 3 runs, 3 RBIs; Meierkort 2 for 4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs; Campbell 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 RBI; Eric Chase 3 for 5, 1 run, 3 RBIs; Jordan Anderson 1 for 2 hitting, 1 run, 2 RBIs; Chris Chase 3 for 4, 1 run; Weiss 1 for 4, 2 runs.

The season record blossoms to 6-0.
