Local teams compete in Lewis & Clark Classic By Jim Prosser Teams from Nebraska and South Dakota spent the weekend of June 10-12 participating in the Lewis & Clark tournament hosted by Vermillion and Yankton. The other South Dakota teams were Mitchell and Sioux Falls West.
Representing Nebraska were Blair, Gretna, Norfolk, and Omaha Bryan.
Results of the first day of competition in Yankton were: Norfolk-2, Yankton-1; Mitchell-6, Norfolk-5; Mitchell-5, Bryan-4; and Yankton-1, Bryan-0.
In the Vermillion division, first day scores were Blair-7, Vermillion-2; Gretna-5, West-1; West-11, Blair-3; Gretna-8, Vermillion-2.
The first game of the tourney for Post #1 was a tough loss as Blair�s Jason Trulin tossed a two hitter and Jason Donald was nicked for seven runs on eight hits, recording seven Ks.
Line scores: Blair � 7 R, 8 H, 2 E, 5 LOB; Post#1 � 2 R, 2 H, 2 E, 4 LOB.
The only Vermillion hits went to Ben Oberle and B.J. Campbell, and Jordan Anderson had an RBI.
The fourth and final game of day one belonged to Gretna as Colin Janssen made winning easy by allowing three hits and two runs in the seven inning 8-2 domination of Post #1.
Vermillion seemed to be a little intimidated as they committed four errors, allowing four unearned runs to score. Kyle Mollet was the losing pitcher giving up only four hits.

B.J. Campbell scored both runs, and the hits were credited to Eric Chase, Ben Oberle, and Zach Weiss.
