Obituaries Larry Heggestad
Funeral Mass for Larry Heggestad was 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2005 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford. Visitation was June 5 from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
Larry Heggestad was born Nov. 26, 1942 to Theodore and Lela (Andre) Heggestad in Winner. He died June 3, 2005 at a Sioux Falls hospital at the age of 62 years, six months and seven days.
Larry was raised in the Vermillion area and graduated from high school there in 1960. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1961 and served two years. He returned to South Dakota where he began working as a career carpenter. Larry was married in 1966 to Jean DeJong. She died giving birth to their son, Michael, in 1969. Larry married Pat O�Connor on Nov. 13, 1971 in Beresford. They made their life together in Beresford as Larry continued to do carpentry work. Loving to be outdoors, he enjoyed riding horses, playing a little golf and doing yard work.
Larry is survived by his wife, Pat Heggestad of Beresford; his mother, Lela Trudeau of Vermillion; two brothers, Gerald (Connie) Heggestad of Winner and Richard Heggestad of Grass Valley, CA; and one sister, LaVonne (Dave) Halverson of Vermillion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore and one brother, Marlin Heggestad.
Kurt Baymiller, 69, of Vermillion, died Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Avera Sacred Heart Care Center in Yankton.
Kurt was born July 15, 1935 in Sioux City, IA, to Harry and Lucille (Christensen) Baymiller. He graduated from Sioux City High School, and from Mount Marty College in Yankton. He married Teola Asbra on September 19, 1981 in Baltic, and worked in Sales and Marketing for Schumacher Communications in Sioux Falls.
He is survived by his wife Teola of Vermillion; five sons, Douglas of Rapid City, Kris and Kyle (Duranda), all of Newton, KS, Jon (Peggy) of Johnston, IA, and Eric (Karen) of Moraga, CA; a stepdaughter, De Asbra of Stacy, MN; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kurt was a very loving and helping person, a very proud member of AA for 27 years, and a member of the Masons, and the Beresford UCC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Marilyn.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests cards of sympathy.
Ardene E. Jacobson
Ardene E. Jacobson, 84, of Vermillion, died Thursday, June 16, 2005 at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.
Ardene Rasmussen was born June 26, 1920 in Wakonda, to Carl and Anna Rasmussen. She attended the Wakonda School, and married Neal Jacobson on June 28, 1940 in Sioux City, IA.
She operated the family farm with her husband until moving to Vermillion in 1979.
She was a past member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Wakonda, the Eastern Star, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Vermillion.
Ardene was very proud of her grandchildren, and cherished their success.
She is survived by a son, Dennis and his wife, Mellanie of Sioux City, IA; a grandson, Chad Jacobson of New York City, NY; a granddaughter, Lindsay and her husband, Kevin Edwards of Fayetteville, AR; and a sister, Irma Hoeg of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, two brothers, and a sister.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at First Baptist Church in Vermillion, with burial in Union Cemetery, rural Wakonda.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion.
Ron D. Christensen
Ron D. Christensen, 56, of Vermillion, died June 21, 2005.
Ron was born April 24, 1948 in Vermillion, to Elmer and Leola (Wynn) Christensen. He graduated from from Vermillion High School in 1967, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served a tour in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
Ron married Sharon Christenson on May 11, 1968 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and returned from Vietnam to live in Fort Belvoir, VA, and later in his childhood home of Vermillion.
He worked for Swingen Construction of Grand Forks, ND, and was a very loving person with his family and others. He enjoyed fishing and exploring the outdoors.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sharon of Vermillion; two daughters, Karen Christensen of Vermillion, and Carol (Dan) Wibben of Wayne, NE; a son Robert (Heidi) Christensen of Vermillion; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Bea) Christensen of Virginia, and Marvin (Marilyn) Christensen of Sioux City, IA; and a sister, Darlene (Harry) Andre of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Alice Smart.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, with burial of ashes to follow in the BluffView Cemetery in Vermillion.
