Tanager golfers place third in state tourney competition By Jim Prosser The Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers continued their dominance in the Class A Championship Golf Tournament.
The State A, 10-team, 51-individual tourney was contested at Pine Hill Golf Course in Milbank, on Monday and Tuesday May 23-24.
The Golddiggers topped the scoring, winning by 46 strokes over second place finisher West Central, and 57 strokes better than the Tanagers who were in third.
Lead-Deadwood had three girls in the top 10 in the rankings, led by Tara Hofer (64), while Vermillion placed two, Jackie Thomas 167, second, and Anna Isaacson 186, ninth.
Chelsea Gauer was in the 12th spot with a 189. Sarah Christopherson (226) was in 37th, and completing the Tanager team was Paige Prosser who placed 42nd out of the 51 entrants.
The top six individuals are designated All State and included Hofer (L/D � medalist), Jackie Thomas (V), Kelli Lowry (WC), Cara Leisinger (WC), Larissa Rantapaa (BF), and Tassy Rantapaa (BF).
The team championship trophy was awarded to Lead-Deadwood as West Central gained the runnerup trophy, while the Tanagers and Belle Fourche received third and fourth place plaques.
