Clubs and Organizations Committee to explore

The VFW Auxiliary to the Clay Post #3061 met on June 21, with President Deloris Gregg presiding. Roll call of officers was taken and recorded. Chaplin Opal Smith offered the opening prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Treasurers report was read and filed for audit. Reports were given on bingo playing at the Vermillion Care Center, Hospice, Get Well, birthday, sympathy, and wedding anniversary cards mailed, and funeral report. Motion made, seconded and carried that our president appoint a committee to explore fund raisers. Civic Council gave donations to girls� softball and Clay County Youth Trust Fund. Marlene Amundsen gave State VFW Auxiliary meeting report. Our auxiliary received awards for service and rehabilitation, Americanism, Operation Uplink, Patriotic Pen, Voice of Democracy, Community Service, Hospital, Cancer Aid and Research, and Poppy Hat award. The meeting adjourned to reopen on Sept. 20.

Meckling 4-H talks about judging

On June 16, the Meckling Livestock 4-H Club met at the Clay County Extension building. President Ashley Ouellette called the meeting to order. The roll call topic was about what you were working on for the fair. For old business, we discusses Meals on Wheels and livestock judging. For new business we talked about who was going to work in the concession stand on July 2. We discussed acrylic painting class which will be held on July 7 and judging teams. We also talked about phone cards for the military. The meeting was adjourned and Gerrit, Cody, Grace and Micheala Olson gave a demonstration on water safety. Our next meeting will be on July 21.

Senior Citizens Center weekly card party

On June 22, there were 19 bridge and 26 pitch players. Winners at bridge were: first � Barbara Kronaizl; second � Meryl Reed; third � Shirley Riehle and Luceal Liffengren; blind bogey � Howard Melstad; low � Lovella Matson and Jim Prosser. No one shot the moon during the pitch games. Refreshments were furnished by Marilyn Siecke and Leona Kryger. All seniors are invited to join the party every Wednesday.
