Country music concerts scheduled Long-time country music entertainers and festival producers Tex and Mary Schutz and South Dakota Patsy Cline-style variety gospel singer Elaine Peacock will bring their special brands of country, gospel and comedy music to two area locations the first weekend in August.
They�ll appear Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. at The Barn, a fun-for-the-whole-family venue located just east of Wayne, NE, and again on Sunday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Parish Hall in Akron, IA.
One-of-a-kind songs, unique harmonies and silly stories are the hallmark of Tex and Mary�s country music performance. Their part of the show will include some old favorite country songs, a selection of newer, �good-message� country songs, lots of silly songs and stories, plus several patriotic and gospel tunes. They�re perhaps best known for their special farm songs and �geezer� songs, and their husband-and-wife comedy.
Each winter, Tex and Mary entertain guests at the many active-adult resorts in Arizona, Southern California and South Texas and each summer, they perform at festivals, show houses, community concerts, churches and RV rallies across the country. In September, they host the Miles of Memories Country MusicFest & RV Rally in Hastings, NE, where professional country entertainers share their traditional style country music with fans from across the Midwest. In May, they were the opening act of a Minnesota show featuring country legend Ray Price.
The duo has released a variety of country and gospel albums. Tex is originally from Texas (by way of Nebraska) and is an award-winning vocalist, and guitar, mandolin and Dobro player. Mary grew up in southeastern Nebraska. Together they�ve won awards for their harmony singing and they�re long-time members of the Mid-America Country Music Hall of Fame.
Peacock of rural Elk Point, travels across the Midwest performing in churches, community centers and at festivals and other events. She�s equally well known as a square dance caller.
In 2003 she released her first CD, titled Country Rose Praise, and has just finished her second, Elaine Peacock Sings Patsy Cline Country and Gospel with a bonus song Over the Rainbow. Another gospel CD is now in production featuring original songs written or published by Nashville songwriter Dennis Morgan.
She has recently performed at the Hope Haven Gospel Benefit in Sioux Center, Seward, NE 4th of July Celebration, Hawarden Relay for Life and at the country gospel show in Akron with Terry Smith and regional singers.
The Barn, which is owned by Merle and Donna Ring, is located just off of Hwy. 35 four miles east and one-half mile south of Wayne. The Parish Hall is located at third and Mill Street in Akron.
