Heritage walk/run, ride is Saturday, August 20 The Big Friends-Little Friends Inc. of Union County is hosting its eighth annual bike ride and a 5/10k fun run and walk on Aug. 20.
The bike routes are 8 to 58 miles, all on blacktop. Registration starts at 7 a.m. at the National Guard Armory, and walkers/runners leave at 8 a.m. Bike riders leave at 8:30 a.m.
Last year, there were 101 bike riders and 34 runners. Area students, runners and walkers are encouraged to enter. Vermillion High School entered 31 volleyball players, and more entrants are expected in both events this year. These events are in conjunction with the Elk Point Heritage Days Festival, Aug. 20-21.

Pre-registration is encouraged to guarantee a t-shirt, but walk-ins are always welcome.
All proceeds support Big Friends-Little Friends, Inc., the youth mentoring program in Clay and Union counties.
