Judy Logue named July Employee of the Month Judy Logue, senior secretary in the Office of Research at The University of South Dakota, has been named Employee of the Month for July.
Vice president of finance and administration Greg Redlin presented the award on behalf of University of South Dakota President James W. Abbott on Friday, July 8, during an award celebration in Slagle Hall.
Logue was nominated by Jan Small and Mel Ustad from the Office of Research. They noted in their letter of nomination that Logue was an ideal candidate for the award, and an asset to USD because she promotes a welcoming, service-oriented atmosphere for everyone and passes that attitude on to those working with and around her.
Redlin shared an early memory of Logue, remarking that even when she was a temporary employee with USD, she was one of the first people into the office in the morning.
"I believe this was highly symbolic of Judy's commitment to our organization," Redlin said.
Logue said that she has enjoyed her experience working at USD and gives credit to others in her office for her disposition and productivity.
"It's easy to be an employee of the month and do a good job when you have a supervisor like Jan," Logue said.
Logue said she decided to come to work at USD after many years of teaching in Wakonda, and that she appreciates the positive responses she receives while on the job.
"So often in teaching, its a long time before you get some positive feedback, but here we get instant feedback," Logue said.
Logue currently lives with her husband, Jim, on a farm south of Wakonda. She is a mother of four, all of whom are grown and have left home.
