Nygaard awarded Roberti scholarship Jeanette Nygaard of Vermillion, was awarded the Helen Roberti Native American Scholarship for the 2005-2006 school year at South Dakota State University.
Nygaard is a German and political science major at SDSU. She is the daughter of Eldon and Sherry Nygaard of Vermillion, and a 2002 graduate of Vermillion High School. At SDSU she is involved in Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and Delta Phi Alpha-National German Honor Society. She also has been active with the Sioux Falls Soup Kitchen, Relay for Life and Meals on Wheels in Brookings and served as a Clay County Democratic canvasser.
This scholarship is funded from a trust established by Helen Roberti to fund undergraduate, graduate and professional educational programs and scholarships for Native Americans in the hope that they, in turn, will apply their education and experience in the further education and betterment of lives of other Native Americans.
