Perryman named new dean of research at USD M. Benjamin Perryman, Ph.D., is The University of South Dakota School of Medicine�s newly appointed dean of research. Perryman will continue to serve USD as a professor in the Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences.
Perryman�s extensive experience will give USD a priceless resource to keep the school of medicine as one of the nation�s leaders in medical education and research. Perryman brings over 30 years of scientific research to the position, having served as professor of medicine and director of technology transfer at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
He currently serves on the national board of directors for the American Heart Association and is a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
"Dr. Perryman is a highly respected medical researcher who will enhance medical education at The University of South Dakota�through his commitment to a spirit of inquiry and his appreciation of evidenced based medicine," said Dr. Rodney Parry, dean of the medical school.
Perryman received his M.S. from the University of Montana and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. He will also continue as the executive director of the South Dakota Health Research Foundation and assistant director of USD's Cardiovascular Research Institute.
