Pink Ladies fall to Vermillion Ice twice in Canton June 28 by Jim Prosser The U-16 Vermillion Ice softball team traveled to Canton June 28 to face the Pink Ladies in a double header. They left with two victories, 12-5 and 8-6.

Game #1 was a high-scoring contest with the Ice dominating the Pink Ladies on offense but their defense had some holes in it.

Alicia Brown was the winning pitcher in the four-inning game, giving up five runs (three unearned) on four hits and nine walks. Her teammates committed four errors, but contributed eight hits.

Mary Ann Bierle scored 3 runs. Ariel Hofman was 1 for 3 with 2 runs and 1 rbi; Anna Isaacson � 1 for 1, scored 2 runs, with 1 rbi; Kinsey Weydert went 1 for 1 with 1 run, 1 rbi; Brown � 1 for 1, 1 R, 2 RBIs; Brittni Stewart � 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 rbi; Stacey Joy, 1 for 2, 1 run; and Kaili Johnson � 1 for 2, 1 run.

In game two, Ariel Hofman pitched a complete seven-innings, giving up four hits, six runs, but walking nine batters. Canton held a 4-3 lead after four innings and the score was tied 6-6 after six.

A two-run spurt led by a walk to Stacy Bottolfson, and singles by Johnson, Bierle, and Stewart, gave the win to Hofman 8-6. Bierle was 3 for 3 and scored twice with 1 rbi; Stewart � 2 for 4, 1 rbi; Calle Sorensen � 1 run; Joy � 1 for 1, 2 runs; and Johnson � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 rbi.

Their season record climbs to 20-4.
