Post #1 baseball team renews winning trend by Jim Prosser Tuesday, June 21, Post #1 resumed their winning ways when they earned a come-from-behind 8-6 victory over Tea Area at the Prentis Park ball field.
Jason Donald was the starter and went four innings giving up six runs (three unearned) on four hits, recording seven Ks. He was relieved by Brad Schaack who was the recipient of the win as he pitched a no-hit, no-run, five-inning stint. He also registered seven Ks. The team�s defense was slightly porous committing six errors (to match the six Tea mistakes).
By scoring one run (a couple were unearned) in each of the first three innings, Vermillion was able to stay close to Tea�s four-run output during that stretch. The visitors added two more runs in the fourth and Post #1 scored two in the fifth, then tied the score in the sixth with another unearned run. Scores of one run each in the seventh and eighth completed the comeback for the win.
Leading the offense was: B.J. Campbell � 1 for 4, 3 runs; Eric Chase � 2 for 5, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Chris Chase � 2 for 2, 1 run, 2 rbi�s; Ryan Mockler went 1 for 3, 2 RBIs; Ryan Gilbertson went 1 for 1, with a run scored in a pinch hitting role. Ben Oberle scored a run and had a sac fly RBI. Reserve catcher Brandon Hansen walked and scored a run.
The team's season record is 10 wins six losses, going into the June 24-26 Smitty Wood Bat Invitational in Aberdeen.
