Post #1 team extends its win record by Jim Prosser On Friday, July 8, Post #1 defeated Alcester 17-5 in a quick five inning game played at the Alcester ball field. Kyle Mollet was the game winner going the route, giving up five runs on two hits, walking two, and registering eight Ks. The team committed five errors resulting in three unearned runs.

Offensive stats were: Ben Oberle � 1 for 2, 3 runs, 3 RBIs; Mollet � 2 for 5, 1 run, 2 RBIs; Reide Meierkort � 4 for 5, 3 runs, 2 RBIs; Eric Chase � 2 for 4, 2 runs; Chris Chase � 3 for 4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs; Jason Donald � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Ryan Gilbertson � 3 for 3, 1 run, 2 RBIs; scoring one run each were Jordan Anderson and Zach Weiss who had two hit by pitcher for one RBI.

Next, Vermillion Post #1 traveled to North Sioux City for a one game contest on Sunday, July 9, where they won 14-4. Eric Chase was the winning pitcher giving up four runs (two unearned), on two hits, three walks and seven Ks, going the seven inning distance. Justin Trudell was the losing pitcher for DV.

Lacking a score keeper, the coach gave the following information: Scoring for Post #1: Reid Meierkort � 4 for 5, 2 runs, 5 RBIs; BJ Campbell went 2 for 3; and Eric Chase � 3 for 5.

The teams� season record is 20 wins � 10 losses.
