SESDAC, Inc. receives federal funds USDA Rural Development State Director Lynn D. Jensen was in Vermillion July 14 to present USDA Rural Development community facility direct loan funds in the amount of $442,000 to SESDAC, Inc. to assist with expenses related to remodeling the existing facility.
Area Director Les Boehmer, Rural Development Manager Sherrie Lewis and Rural Development Specialist Jim Rydell also attended the event.
Jensen said, "I'm pleased USDA Rural Development was able to assist with the necessary improvements to this much needed activity center," Jensen said. "The improvements to the facility will improve functionality and accessibility for staff and the people served."
SESDAC, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is an adjustment training center located in Vermillion. The facility assists those with disabilities and special needs by teaching basic living, working and socializing skills. Additional funding received for this project includes Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the amount of $300,000 and an applicant contribution of $69,128.
The project was designed by Fine Line Architecture, Inc. of Vermillion and the general contractor is Welfl Construction Corporation from Yankton.

The remodeled facility will provide a wider range of options for services to people in a completely accessible environment. Other enhancements have also made the building a safer place for both employees and the people we serve," said Michael Slattery, executive director of the SESDAC, Inc.
