Teeners record 1-8 for the season by Jim Prosser The Teener baseball team had a busy week June 20-25 as they visited Elk Point where they were downed by a 12-1 "shelakin."

Jerrod Freidel was the losing pitcher with the Vermillion players getting five hits but only one run. Eric McPherson was driven in by Jackson Freidel for the main output of the visitors.

The second game was played at Prentis Park against Harrisburg, Thursday, June 23. This time the score demonstrated a competitive outcome. The home team scored seven runs on six hits but committed seven errors which was their downfall.

The Tigers accumulated nine runs on six hits but their mistake output was only three. Eric McPherson suffered the loss.

The offensive stats were: Paul Hammond � 3 for 4, 1 run; Jerrod Freidel � 1 for 1, 1 run; Jackson Freidel � 1 for 4, 1 run; Nick Rasmussen � 1 for 4, 1 RBI; Cole Andre, Ryan Husby, and C.J. Haakinson each plated a run.

The final game of the week was played at Parkston on Saturday, June 25. It turned out to be a rain-shortened, five-inning battle.

Line score was: Vermillion � 4 runs, 4 hits, 2 err, 4 lob; Parkston � 5 runs, 7 hits, 0 err, 6 lob, and another close loss for the Redbirds.

Vermillion offensive stats: Paul Hammond � 1 for 1, 2 runs; Ryan Husby � 1 for 2, 1 run; Tyler Thedorff � 1 for 2, 1 run.

The Vermillion Teeners have a 1-8 record.
